According to Dr. Travis Bradberry, â€Å"Grit is that extra something that separates the most successful people from the rest. It s the passion, perseverance, and stamina that we must channel in order to stick with our dreams until they become a reality† (â€Å"Travis Bradberry Quotes†). Having grit in life is essentially the same as having hope and being able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Grit is the ability to remain strong in the face of adversity and the backbone to stand firm. At times, grit is the only thing that pushes one forward in life. In the face of suffering and fear, women have overcome adversity, abuse, trauma, and tragedy through their strength, survival, resiliency, determination, and true grit. When Bethany Hamilton went surfing with her best friend in Kauai on Halloween morning of 2003, her life was changed forever.
